BARNSTABLE — March 29, 2022 — Barnstable Conservation Commission approves stone revetment on Saapuot River Road while continuing two contested shoreline cases. At its March 29 meeting, the seven-member commission unanimously approved a roughly 300-foot stone revetment on behalf of applicants Camellia Kerrigan and Yasmin Realty Trust, represented by John O'Day of Sullivan Engineering and Consulting, citing active erosion that has deposited eight feet of sand into a neighboring dock in five years. A separate armoring application for Paul Fitzgerald at 207 Cabin Lane — involving a stone revetment and plastic sheet-pile bulkhead near a town bridge — was continued to June 7 after commissioners including Pete Sampou and Bill Foster raised concerns about unintended consequences and the absence of hydrodynamic modeling; neighboring boathouse owners Sarah, Mark, and Douglas Bishop offered public comment echoing those worries. A pier modification or dredging proposal for the Glen Lane Nominal Trust on the Centerville River was continued to April 26 after the town shellfish committee "strongly objected" to dredging productive shellfish habitat. The commission also voted 5-2 to approve an accessible ramp and patio reconfiguration at 105 Sunset Lane in Barnstable, over objections from multiple abutters citing a deeded beach easement held by roughly 90 neighboring property owners.
