School Committee approves 2026-27 district plan

Barnstable School Committee unanimously approved the 2026-27 district improvement plan and a new law enforcement policy. Superintendent Sara Ahern said the state will reimburse 55 percent of two accelerated roof repair projects, well above the 35 to 40 percent the district expected, with a schematic design and cost estimate due in early October. The committee also approved school nurse appointments, a lead community mentor position at Barnstable Intermediate School and a $152,751 accounts payable warrant.

Chris Stwelli reported the general fund ended fiscal 2026 with about $56,000 available. Starting in October, meetings will move to Zoom during Town Hall elevator replacement.
