Barnstable Conservation Commission Approves Six Applications, All Votes Unanimous

BARNSTABLE — March 1, 2022 — Barnstable Conservation Commission approves deck expansion, farm improvements, and foundation replacement in unanimous session. The commission voted unanimously on all items at its March 1 remote hearing, issuing a negative determination for a bedroom addition on columns at 64 Old Harbor Road and approving an order of conditions for a deck-and-steps project at 155 Sunset Lane — but only after commissioners pushed applicant engineer Mark Dibb of Cape and Islands Engineering to relocate proposed mitigation plantings from the sides of the property to the top of the coastal bank revetment and add salt-tolerant red cedars for winter bird habitat. Commissioner George Sampou said the current design left the waterfront "pretty naked all the way down to the stone wall to the water." The commission also approved an expanded working garden, greenhouse replacement, and paddock regrading at the Rushie Marsh working farm at 1541 Main Street, with DEP file number SE3-5963 received the same afternoon, and cleared a Cotuit driveway reconfiguration for Richard and Jennifer Gallagher at 611 Centerwood Road after its DEP number was confirmed. Five certificates of compliance and three sets of meeting minutes were approved in two additional unanimous block votes.
