Barnstable Board of Health Approves Body Art Licenses and Septic Repairs, Defers Grease Trap Vote

Board of Health · Meeting of July 28, 2026

Barnstable Board of Health approves body art licenses and septic repairs, defers hotel grease trap decision. The board voted unanimously on all contested items at its July 28 meeting, granting an establishment license to Dubai Lux Spa at 328 Main Street in Hyannis and approving two body art practitioners, Tsovinar Papian and Ghana Al-Ayash, for cosmetic tattooing work. A septic repair variance was approved for owners Diane and Peter Elmes at 3 Yard Club Road in Centerville after contractor Adam Clark told the board a previously expected 2027 sewer hookup had been pushed to 2031.

A grease trap variance for the Holiday Inn Express on Route 132 was tabled to August 25 after Jay Patel presented oil and grease test results showing a reading of 1.1 — far below the 35-to-60 range Health Director Tom McKean described as problematic — with the board directing staff to share results with the DPW before acting. The board also voted to conduct September meetings via Zoom after receiving notice that the Town Hall elevator will be under repair from September through December.
